Eddy Francisco Alvarez Jr.
Eddy Francisco Alvarez Jr. is a queer Chicano-Cubano raised in North Hollywood. He is Assistant Professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies at California State University, Fullerton. He received his PhD in Chican/o Studies from UC Santa Barbara and his MA and BA in Spanish from CSU Northridge. He is a founding member of the Association for Jotería Arts, Activism, and Scholarship and served on the board of the organization for almost ten years. His publications include scholarly and creative writing in Aztlan: A Journal of Chicano Studies, TSQ: Transgender Studies Quarterly, Journal of Lesbian Studies, Journal of Popular Music Studies and an edited book titled Transmovimientos: Latinx Queer Migrations, Bodies and Spaces, a 2022 International Latino Book Award Finalist for Best LGBTQ Studies Book. A 2020 Faculty Fellow of the American Association for Hispanics in Higher Education, 2020 honoree of the 41 List, and a 2022 New Leadership Academy Fellow, Dr. Alvarez Jr.'s advocacy work includes pro bono services as an expert witness for gay and trans asylum seekers from Mexico.
