LOS ANGELES, CA – April 3, 2024 – The TransLatin@ Coalition (TLC), a leading organization advocating for Transgender, Gender Non-Conforming, and Intersex (TGI) Latinx communities, has been targeted by a series of bomb threats and hate mail directed at its members and facilities. These despicable acts represent a dangerous escalation in the ongoing violence and discrimination faced by TGI communities worldwide.
On Thursday of last week, bomb threats were made against the TLC to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The LAPD responded swiftly, conducting a thorough security sweep of the TLC offices the following day. Alarmingly, the threats reference specific dates extending into June, raising concerns of continued harassment.
In what appears to be a connected effort, hate mail was also received by the organization's leadership, including President/CEO Bamby Salcedo and Vice President/COO Maria Roman Taylorson. These hateful messages spewed anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, criticized the Democratic Party, and employed religious language to demonize the TLC's mission.
"This targeted violence and hatred against our community is unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms," said Bamby Salcedo, President and CEO of The TransLatin@ Coalition. "We refuse to be intimidated or silenced by these malicious acts. Now more than ever, we stand united in solidarity with our transgender, gender nonconforming, and intersex siblings, and we will continue our work to create a world where all individuals can live free from fear and discrimination."
Despite these cowardly attempts to instill fear, The TransLatin@ Coalition remains undeterred. In a statement, the organization affirmed its unwavering commitment to fighting for the rights, dignity, and safety of TGI individuals. The TLC will not be silenced by hate.

Report any threats or acts of violence against TGI individuals to the authorities.
Advocate for greater acceptance and understanding of TGI identities.
