To help commemorate the 15th year anniversary as one of the largest transgender-led nonprofit service providers in the United States, Los Angeles-based The TransLatin@ Coalition joined Bank of America LGBTQ+ executives to celebrate a recent $85,000 grant to expand its Trans Workplace Initiative helping teens and young adults prepare for careers. The local BofA team also donated gender-neutral professional workplace attire for participants of the program and has hosted resume writing and financial education workshops for TLC clients to help set them up for success. This most recent grant is part of the $150,000 that TLC has received from Bank of America since 2022. The bank was also an early funder and participant in TLC’s series of career fairs for trans, gender nonconforming, and intersex (TGI) individuals.
“It is wonderful that corporations like Bank of America are taking the initiative to really invest in the lives of trans people. We need other organizations to look at this as an example of how they can really be intentional and support a change, a real change in one of the most marginalized communities. We thank you.”
-Maria Roman Taylorson, Vice President & COO of The TransLatin@ Coalition
“Our longtime partnership with TransLatina Coalition is very important to us and our employees, especially as a company that provides industry leading workplace benefits for our trans employees,” said Alex Rhodes, D&I executive, Bank of America. “This grant along with professional clothing donated by our executives and our resume and financial education workshops are just some ways we can help the participants of the workforce program build new career pathways.”
