The TransLatin@ Coalition is calling for a radical shift in the approach to Trans Liberation. For too long, the needs and experiences of transgender, gender non-conforming, and intersex (TGI) individuals have been overlooked and misunderstood by external forces. It is time to reclaim our narrative and invest in solutions that are driven by and for our community.
Achieving true Trans Liberation requires investing in solutions created by and for the TGI community. For too long, the government has dictated our future without understanding our unique needs. Drawing on our community’s innovation, resilience, and creativity to tackle challenges like healthcare, housing, legal protections, and social services. When we invest in TGI-led solutions, we empower our community to build tailored initiatives that foster long-lasting progress and a more equitable future.
However, innovation cannot thrive without resources. The TGI community faces disproportionate barriers to securing the funding and support needed to implement these solutions. Advocacy at every level—local, state, and federal—is essential to ensure access to equitable resources like grants, healthcare, and housing. By mobilizing grassroots advocacy, we can push for change from the ground up, empowering individuals to demand the policies and resources that will bring about our collective liberation. Together, we will make Trans Liberation not just a goal, but a reality.
